THE RETURN OF THE UGLIES: NSW Liberal Hard Right MPs invade Sydney Uni Liberal Club and fail

The Sydney University Liberal Club Annual General Meeting yesterday become the latest battle-ground for the war within the NSW Liberal Right faction, as some of the most prominent state MPs attended in a failed attempt to intimidate young rivals.

The split has involved an epic struggle between conservative Catholic forces aligned to state MP David Clarke MLC and to usually younger more secular and free-marketeer types aligned to federal MP Alex Hawke.

One partisan, aligned to the Hawke sub-faction has spoken out, worried about the intimidatory tactics rolled out by Clarke and it’s certainly an extraordinary tale.

David Clarke Extremists Annihilated at SULC AGM

Liberal Party Patriots around NSW rejoiced yesterday when the forces of the extremist hard religious right linked to shadowy state MP David Clarke were defeated in their hostile takeover of the Sydney University Liberal Club at last night’s AGM.

After a month-long campaign of sh*t-sheets, radio broadcasts, online smears, roll-stacking, and intimidation against mainstream conservatives, the Hard Right scurried away with their tail between their legs after they were annihilated in what has been described as the first decisive battle within the NSW Liberal Right faction.

The most noticeable and appalling aspect was the crude attempt at intimidation of the young membership by the Hard Right bringing their state MPs to the meeting. Maybe next year they’ll borrow Tom Domican from the Labor Party and some brace-wearing goons from the CFMEU to crack a few skulls.

Despite months of work by the Hard Right, (who broke off from the Mainstream Right several months ago and united with the supposedly racist  and even more extreme “Taliban” (affectionately known as the “Tali”) faction), members loyal to the Mainstream Right were elected by sweeping margins to every single position in a dramatic and tense 4 hour long AGM. This is considered by most observers aligned to the mainstreamers to be a significant blow to Clarke’s extremist renegades, who had been hopeful of victory and regard SULC as an important source of recruits for both stacks and young operatives. It is the cradle from which many MPs have emerged.

So desperate were they for victory, that they deployed their full cavalry of parliamentarians and their illuminati to attend a simple student Liberal Club meeting. Sydney Uni had not seen such excitement since Labor leftard Rose Jackson threatened to streak in protest for Pavlov’s dogs or some such.

Those called into battle at what was supposed to be a student gathering included some of the state’s most prominent Liberal Right factional operators who some might have thought had better things to do like winning the next state election:

David Clarke MLC – Some people never want to leave the warm embrace of Uni life and the self-flagellating David is one of them. Attending student political meetings in one’s fifties is perhaps a new and twisted version of S&M that wouldn’t be allowed in those clubs we’ve all heard about. Despite being a Member of Parliament, nothing it seems was more important to Chieftain Clarke than the unrivalled honour of being the patron of the Sydney University Liberal Club. He ruthlessly attempted to abuse his ceremonial role by vetting nominations and rorting the Constitution as chair of the meeting. It’s obvious why David was never considered a great Constitutional lawyer with his “pick and choose” interpretation where only clauses that helped his merry band of extremist men were adhered to as they attempted to rort the election. If it had been within his judicial power, he would have gladly ordered the construction of a guillotine for the execution of dissident secularists. Perhaps he and Fred Nile will draft up a Bill of Attainder to imprison the Sydney Uni secular conservatives. It might be his only hope at retaining influence with the young ones after yesterday’s disgrace.

“Mad Dog” Marie Ficcara MLC – After making her way full-circle through the Liberal Party from the Hard Left to the Hard Right, this erratic and unpredictable ‘attack dog’ of the hard right is known as the poster-girl for the Taliban after acting as campaign manager for Michael Towke’s successful pre-selection campaign in Cook at the 2007 election that brought the Liberal Party to its knees. The above photograph makes it clear how she threw her not inconsiderable weight around the meeting. If politics doesn’t work out, we wouldn’t be surprised to see her crowned Queen Mud-Wrestler after a take-on-all-comers tournament in Gosford. Labor’s Belinda Neal might also be interested.

Councillor Vince DeLuca (Warringah Council) – Chief of Staff to Marie Ficcara MLC, and aspirant for the state seat of Wakehurst. Vince shares Marie’s passion for traversing the political spectrum being another recent convert from the Hard Left to the Hard Right extremist cause. The zealousness of the convert is a delight to behold. Known to have been inspired by the Da Vinci Code.

Councillor Zaya Toma (Fairfield Council) – Chief of Staff to Charlie Lynn MLC and covets his spot in the Upper House.

Edwin Dyga – Senior Adviser to Shadow Attorney General and Hard Right Leader in the NSW LA Greg Smith MP. Ed is criticised for what we shall call politely being less than sensitive on certain racial issues and who delights in the self-description as the new Llyenko Urbanich (a former Nazi collaborator, and prominent anti-Semitic propagandist during WWII, who upon migrating to Australia established the “Ulgies” faction in the Liberal Party with David Clarke). Edwin is proud to be Ugly.

Charlie Perrotett – Chief of Staff to David Clarke MLC, the Leader of the Young Liberal Hard Right and Young Liberal Presidential aspirant. Currently works 24/7 on taxpayer dollars on a campaign to take over mainstream conservative branches across the State. Nothing like crusading for freedom while sucking on the public teat.

Dominic Perrotett – Leader (and sole member) of the Hard Right on the State Executive of the party. Dom is working to oust Michael Richardson from the seat of Castle Hill and boost the Hard Right’s numbers in the New South Wales Parliament.

Wade McInerney – Cook FEC President, long-time Taliban leader who shares the Afghan group’s views on women and the rights of the unborn, who was previously expelled from the Liberal Party for indelicate remarks that might not have been out of place on the Fuehrer’s birthday card. Wade was the architect behind Michael Towke’s dismal campaign for Cook and continues to work to unseat “the pretender” Scott Morrison and install party turncoat Michael Towke in to the seat he believes he rightly deserves. Rumoured to be eyeing Marie Ficarra’s seat in the Upper House when she rolls Malcolm Kerr in Cronulla.  This is a busy group with more plots than the average cemetery.

Scott Chapman – Baldy and Hard Right operator who helped Towke’s campaign as well.

Graham Isbister – Upcoming star of the Hard Right famous for his comments that women should be kept in the kitchen. No wonder he can’t get laid. Graham has argued publicly that homosexuals are “moral deviants”, and is known among friends to argue that homosexuality should be criminalised. He is the protégé of former Young Liberal President & epic Failure Noel McCoy, and inheritor of the Willoughby Young Liberal Branch – the jewel in the Extreme Right’s crown.

All these people apparently had nothing better to do than attend a student political club meeting, despite not having any affiliation to SULC whatsoever. It’s not just on the golf course that Clarke’s self-flagellators struggle to hit their way out of the sandpit.

No wonder NSW Labor has been able to govern so incompetently and for so long.

CLARKE’S RORTS EXPOSED
So obsessed with winning the AGM ballot was Clarke that he invoked a obscure provision in an outdated Club Constitution that gave him the right to chair the meeting (despite the fact this constitution had been replaced) and bullied University staff into allowing him to chair the meeting – contrary to a ruling by the SULC Electoral Legal Arbiter.

Not once in the history of a Liberal Club in NSW has this happened. As a result, people were randomly struck off the electoral roll, and added, as it suited him. For some people the old constitution applied, for others, the new one. One young woman who has been a club member since 2003 was deemed ineligible to vote because she joined the club before getting her Student Union Card and not the other way around – Clarke really is a staunch supporter of unionism when it suits him, especially considering his long-time love affair with the DLP. Dare to struggle, dare to win.

Since the demolition of the Clarke ticket, many accounts have reached VEXNEWS about the tactics of deceit and intimidation used by Clarke’s stormtroopers.

One attendee told Vexnews “I was told to vote for Clarke’s ticket because the others weren’t Christian enough”. It is a matter of fact that members of the (Catholic) Society of St. Peter were called by Nat Smith (son of Greg Smith MP who is running for Greg Pearce’s seat in the Upper House) and told that the Liberal Club executive were anti-Christian and anti-Catholic and they had to attend to support Catholic values (despite the fact the exec included Catholics and other Christians). Many of these people were so outraged at having being lied to they ended up voting for the Mainstream ticket. Two club members who were brought along as stacks by Chad (self described “master of all things right”) Sider left the meeting midway, and were overheard saying they were totally disgusted and were lied to by Chad.

The show got funny when the force of the Hard Right including MPs deployed en masse to encircle first-year Henry Kha, who was backed by the Mainstream Right, and ensure he voted the Hard Right ticket. Poor little Henry tried to leave the meeting but was physically grabbed and brought back into the meeting by Charlie Perrotett and encircled by Chapman, McInerney, DeLuca and Ficarra to ensure he voted for the Hard Right and was physically prevented from leaving and forced by the Clarke team to withdraw his nomination.

WEIRDOS ON THE LOOSE
Other new members were turned away by the blatantly extremist views of the Clarke faction, all of whom are linked to non-mainstream elements of the Catholic Church.  David Clarke and Noel McCoy, both members of Opus Dei, have been explicit in their desire to turn the Liberal Party into a religious dominated body. One new member reported to VEXNEWS: “I went to one of their functions and all they talked about was sex, gays, and immorality. They were totally obsessed and couldn’t talk about anything else! I’m a Catholic, but with them I felt like I was at a meeting of some strange cult! I needed a shower afterwards…”

Despite the flagrant constitutional violations and bias by self-appointed Chair David Clarke, it became clear that the overwhelming majority of club members supported the Mainstream ticket, and it was impossible for him to exclude everyone. As a last ditch effort, Dominic Perrotett rushed in and tried to shut down the meeting, only to be greeted by jeers, catcalls and universal chants of “Vote! Vote! Vote!” and “Sasha! Sasha! Sasha!” (the Mainstream presidential candidate).

It was at this time that Marie Ficcara, a Member of the Upper House, made traditional mafia-style throat slitting gestures aimed at Young Liberal President Scott Farlow, and Young Liberal Executive Member Simon Fontana, saying “you two are finished!” As a lawmaker, Ficcara is probably aware that threats to kill are unlawful in New South Wales.

CLARKE’S SECOND CHILDHOOD
Being at University again gave Clarke the opportunity to act as Lecturer as he started to give a tutorial in “Rorting elections for Dummies”. The Constitution said members had to be accepted by the club – Clarke said that didn’t stand. The Constitution said you had to be a member of the Club for 28 days before the meeting, but Clarke ruled that only applied to Union membership, not membership of the club. Clarke’s fragrant rorting of the Constitution was unearthed when he ruled his Presidential nominee eligible to vote when he had ruled out four other people on the same grounds. After Clarke had tried every delaying tactic in the book, hoping that a mass of his stacks could be found at a nearby Opus Dei seminary, voting began after three hours and the tally turned into a rout. After the first few ballots, the Clarke Forces conceded defeat and hurried home to write on VEXNEWS that they’d been cheated.

Perhaps the biggest loser though is former Young Liberal President, Noel “Look at Moi” McCoy. Completing his term as young Liberal President in abject failure, and considered a national joke, he began to suffer relevance deprivation syndrome, and spent the last three months jumping around declaring his intention to any journalist who’ll listen to run for Parliament – Bradfield, Berowra, Senate – you name it, Noel has declared he’ll challenge! Some feared the young nag would be entered in the Melbourne Cup as well. Of course, no-one takes any of this seriously, but it gets in the paper and Noel is happy for another day. Having taken the SULC losers under his wing, this was his way to finally get a support base. Now he is reduced to an irrelevant failure once again. But stay tuned for his next challenge! Watch out Spring Carnival!

While in many ways symbolic, Liberal insiders believe this victory for the Mainstream demonstrates that despite the constant media campaign of the Clarke cult, the tide has turned on the Clarke splittist extremists, as genuine conservatives see through their lies and weirdness, and stand up to their aggression, intimidation, and bullyboy tactics that belong in the Labor party.

The Liberal Right in NSW has always been a broad alliance of mainstream liberals – united. Now that they are rid of the extremist, racist, and downright obsessive views of Clarke & co, who have no interest in conservative values, no interest in economics, no interest in anything outside of gays, sex and abortion, many senior conservatives feel the mainstream right will be stronger than ever.
